short and sweet :) the pace is fast, but it gets to the heart of the matter with each of the characters quite well I’d say. I like the difference in approaches each of them have, playing Nikki’s route second was especially surprising with how bold she is. really nice art too, especially the best endings :3 and thank you for making the protagonist gender-neutral!

one thing that bugged me though was the blackmail gambit in Nikki’s route. I get the impression that she wasn’t serious about it, or only meant it as a defense, but the protagonist is repeatedly worried about it for the whole route. even though the game is clearly lighthearted, it feels oddly manipulative- though the issue to me is more that it doesn’t fit the tone of the game, rather than there being something wrong with writing about such a dynamic. plus, perhaps ironically, the good ending has a brief exchange where Nikki says she’ll drop it, but the best ending leaves it up in the air still… maybe by that point Adrian is into it? :P

edit: forgot to share my thoughts on this, but I appreciate that Nikki is given such sympathetic treatment for her relationship problems. irl I’m polyamorous, and love triangle tropes bother me b/c of the enforced monogamy, but I don’t feel any of that frustration with Nikki’s situation. like she says, she cheats on her partners because she is so used to them cheating on her. it would have been easy for the narrative to deride her for it, but I think it’s great that she comes to terms with the unhealthy cycle being perpetuated and seeks to break it. it’s a refreshing change from the binary mode I often see cheating portrayed in, as either something to be glazed over or exaggerated as inherently evil.

I really enjoyed this, even though it wasn't totally finished. Good work on it!

I know this game released a few years ago now, but I'd just like to say that I really enjoyed what was here, and appreciate all the love, care, and passion that must have gone into putting it together. Thank you for creating and sharing this with everyone.

Glad you liked it. Sorry it's so amateurish, I just thought it would be a fun project for a game jam. I want to make a bigger, better one, but I'm currently on hiatus to work on my art.
In case you were wondering, I'm not the artist of the game, I did everything but the art.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Please be more gentle and supportive of yourself. You have nothing to apologize for.

Professionally made games do not guarantee an enjoyable experience. If anything, I'm of the opinion that it is the indie game space that carries the passion and creativity of projects and ideas forward for video games more often than not these days.

This is a nice game. I enjoyed the writing and the art, I appreciated the inclusion of multiple paths/routes to play through, and the characters were interesting enough that I wanted to learn more about them both. After seeing all there was to see, I was just left hoping the stories would be continued someday, but even if not they reached a nice point of progression as it stands. It is my hope that more games like this may exist in the future, especially within this genre as they are few.

It's made all the more impressive knowing how short the usual game jam development cycles tend to be that you managed to provide this much content.

Thank you again to you and your collaborator(s) for making this game possible and freely sharing it with everyone.

No problem. Unfortunately, the artist has moved on from the community. I do want to sort of remake it with much more content in the future when I learn to draw well, but that'll be quite a while. Glad to know you liked it that much.

Nice novel for the limited time schedule.
Though there are still some pieces of the shattered forth wall laying around ;)

Ok, there is a major bug in the script which prevents any other ending than the bad one. The order of the "points" count and the scene jumps seem to be mixed up.
And after fixing it myself I have to say it's a shame to not see the other endings <3

After the 2 girls screen there is another small bug which shows the same girl twice.... nothing important.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can fix it. I tried several times and accidentally ended up deleting the whole thing. X(

I'm sorry to have locked out the endings, but the artist will post the images used in the game on his deviantart page as soon as he touches them up a little.

Okay, I understand.

For everyone interested in a fix:
Open the file "script.rpy" (not "script.rpyc") in the game sub folder in your favourite text editor. Search for "$ points += 1" and move that lines above the lines containing "jump ...". Be sure not to change any indention or other white spaces.

If your favourite text editor is Notepad++ enable regular expression in the search/replace window and use
^(\s+jump \w+\n)(\s+\$ points \+= 1\n)
in the search field and
\2\1
in the replace field. That should fix all lines :)

Hey, can you help me? I only have Notepad (dunno what Notepad++ is) and I have no idea how to fix it. I tried what you said but I keep getting errors.

Ok, I try to backtrack my own steps...

- Open "game/script.rpy"

- Search for "$ points += 1"

- Switch the whole line containing "$ points += 1" with the line preceding it.

- Repeat for all "$ points += 1" lines which are preceded by a "jump ..." line.

Example:

Before:

            jump sarahpath
            $ points += 1

After:

            $ points += 1
            jump sarahpath

And Notepad++ is my bare minimum I use for text editing under Windows (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/)

I hope I could explain it good enough.
